MarwaCodi

Marwacodi is a Luo word, meaning ours, referring to a collective responsibility towards a common goal. It was coined by Olivia Osano who is a dedicated and experienced social worker with over 10 years work experience in social work, voluntary Councelling and Testing(VCT) in HIV support programmes and in pyschosocial counselling within Kibera slums in Nairobi, Kenya.

At the heart of the 2020 Covid-19 lock-down. Olivia Osano moved her family from the city to the Country side in Ahero in Nyanza region. While there, she encountered many teenage mothers and saw first hand their pyschosocial and economic plight. Through interacting with these teenage mothers, most of who came from households experiencing extreme poverty, she found herself providing psychosocial and economic support to these young girls. She was moved to start MarwaCodi in 2020, to mobilise additional support and to have an even greater impact in the community.
